Transformation of any organization is complex and preparing for transformation must not be underestimated. The Assessment and Planning activity defines the scope and objectives of the overall architecture. Assessment and Planning establishes the project management process. A common set of expectations and shared understanding of key business issues driving the development of both the business and systems architecture must be defined and communicated. This activity also addresses standard project management objectives such and roles and responsibilities, staffing, project planning, tracking and control processes, and quality management.
The Assessment and Planning activity establishes a high-level vision of the way in which information and technology will enable and support the goals of the organization. This vision serves as the basis for more detailed analysis and design activities.
